I'm in awe over the pictures that I took this weekend during my trip to Whidbey island. ⁣ ⁣ Whidbey island is a beautiful place and easy to get to from Seattle. ⁣ ⁣ The most dynamic photos light were taken in Mulkiteo at the ferry crossing in the late afternoon when the sun was starting to go down. ⁣ ⁣ I remember years ago a professional photographer friend said that he was obsessed with light. Over three years ago I volunteered through @workawayinfo and found an arrangement with an Italian ex-pat family in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. ⁣ ⁣ While the daughter was in Namibia l watched her 88 year old mother and went to Spanish classes. ⁣ ⁣ One night another border arrived: Karen, who was 72 who had just flown in from the Pacific Northwest and made it to SMA from Querétaro by bus & taxi with little Spanish and a big suitcase. ⁣ ⁣ Finally got to visit Karen at her home this weekend in Whidbey island. Last night Karen and I reminisced about the time we went the weekly market together in San Miguel de Allende. Where we ate the best food and enjoyed seeing all sorts of things for sale away from ritzy downtown "Centro" San Miguel. ⁣ ⁣ Photos: ⁣ bags⁣ huitlacoche (fungus that grows on corn that is eaten in Mexico often in a soup) ⁣ honey, honey and bee products! ⁣ ⁣ I did buy some bee pollen to supplement my diet whole traveling. I realized the other day that not everyone knows my life story and that it is one worth telling. ⁣ ⁣ Those that are close to me know that I don't generally like to get up early, especially on a Sunday but I have been doing so for a dance class. It takes me an hour to get there without a car. I don't mind as I prefer to live without a car to save money and it is better for the planet. ⁣ ⁣ There was another time that I traveled far for a dance class. When I was eleven, I rode a bicycle 4 miles to go my first dance class, ballet. ⁣ ⁣ My parents were busy farming 20 acres and raising four kids (now there are 6). If I had free time I was often watching my baby sister, brothers or working in the fields. ⁣ ⁣ So I made it happen. ⁣ ⁣ I like living bold. I'm upfront and love the thrill of a little bit of adventure or danger. No necessarily in a bad way but in let me navigate the Mexico City subway by myself with a full pack kind-of-way. ⁣ ⁣ And a booty shaking provocative dance kind-of -way. ⁣ ⁣ Let's get it. ⁣ ⁣ P.S.
